COLUMBUS, Ind. - Heritage Fund has announced the 10 local high school seniors selected as finalists for the 2027 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships for Bartholomew County. All are from the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC).
Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are known for their community involvement, academic achievement, character, and leadership. Each scholarship provides full tuition, required fees, and up to $900 per year for required books and equipment for four years.
The scholarship is for undergraduate students studying on a full-time basis leading to a baccalaureate degree at any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university.
The finalists from Columbus East High School are: Emmett Harden, Reagan Moffitt, and Delaney Richards.
The Columbus North High School finalists are: Keagan Easton, Juan Galicia-Salas, Elsa Li, Mridula Muthukumaran, Margaret Rayburn, Daniela Ruacho, and Crystal Vasquez Bautista.
Heritage Fund selected the 10 BCSC finalists from the 79 applications received for this year’s scholarships. The scholarship applicants were evaluated on academic performance; scholastic and community involvement; employment; leadership; financial need; short answer and essay responses; and two recommendations.
The selection committee will now interview the finalists and then submit scholarship nominees to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI), the statewide administrator of the scholarship program, for nomination approval.
ICI will announce the 2027 Lilly Scholars in December. To date, 61 Bartholomew County students have been named Lilly Endowment Community Scholars.
