JCCF's 'Color the County' mural program ends

FRANKLIN, Ind. - Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) has officially completed its final "Color the County" mural, marking the conclusion of a decade-long program that transformed public spaces throughout Johnson County.

The last mural was completed earlier this month on Hadwell Hardware in Trafalgar, bringing the Color the County Mural Program to a close.

It began 10 years ago as part of JCCF’s 25th Anniversary celebration. Over the past decade, Color the County has connected local artists and community members through a collaborative mural-making process, resulting in impactful works of art that revitalize public spaces and strengthen neighborhood identity.

While the Color the County program has ended, JCCF is ensuring that public art continues to have a lasting presence in Johnson County.

Festival Country Indiana awarded JCCF a $50,000 grant, which the Foundation will match to establish a $100,000 endowment for murals and public art in Johnson County.

“The endowment allows us to build on the legacy of Color the County while creating opportunities for public art to continue evolving in Johnson County,” said JCCF President/CEO Kim Kasting. “We’re grateful to Festival Country Indiana for helping us establish a permanent resource that will support creativity, community connection, and vibrant public spaces for generations to come.”
