BROWNSTOWN, Ind. - Christopher Green, 59, of Seymour, was sentenced Tuesday, June 9, on 14 guilty verdicts after a successful jury trial.

Following the six-day trial, from April 7 to April 21, the jury found Green guilty of thirteen (13) felony offenses and one (1) misdemeanor offense, after hearing evidence presented by Prosecuting Attorney Lynsey N. Fleetwood and Deputy Prosecutor Sara Laska.

The jury returned guilty verdicts on:

  • Child Molesting (5 Counts)
  • Vicarious Sexual Conduct (2 Counts)
  • Attempted Obstruction of Justice (1 Count)
  • Neglect of a Dependent (2 Counts)
  • Intimidation (1 Count)
  • Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury (2 Counts)
  • Incest (1 Count)

For more than a decade, Christopher Green subjected his victims to abuse, neglect, intimidation, and sexual misconduct. The jury's guilty verdicts send a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated and that Green is held accountable for the harm he caused.

At the sentencing hearing in Jackson County Circuit Court, Judge Richard W. Poynter sentenced Green to 40 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Despite the emotional difficulty of revisiting years of trauma, the victims exhibited courage and chose to stand before a jury and tell the truth. Their strength and determination were instrumental in securing these convictions.

The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office thanked the Seymour Police Department and Detective Corporal Adam Surface, saying, "Their diligence, professionalism, and commitment were instrumental in the investigation of this case."

While no sentence can undo the harm suffered by the victims, the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office remains committed to protecting vulnerable individuals, pursuing justice for victims, and holding offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
