COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Hope Volunteer Fire Department was called to a local structure fire on Sunday night, January 18.
Firefighters responded to the reported fire involving a shed that housed the home’s well pump shortly after 11 p.m.
It was determined that a heater had been placed inside the shed to thaw the frozen pipes. Fire crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
No injuries were reported, and no damage estimates were provided.
The Hope Volunteer Fire Department reminds residents to use caution when using supplemental heating devices, especially in enclosed or non-living spaces. Always follow manufacturer guidelines and keep heaters clear of combustible materials.
