COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Police Department (CPD) detectives are actively investigating the death of a child.
First responders were called to the 3600 block of Nicholas Lane in Columbus on Wednesday, April 22, at around 2:15 p.m. The initial caller told dispatchers that a 16-month-old child was not breathing.
Police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel rushed to the scene to provide aid. The child was transported to the Columbus Regional Health, but later died.
The investigation immediately began and is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death.
