CFD, Cummins Plant 1 schedule training exercise for Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Cummins Engine Company and the Columbus Fire Department (CFD) will conduct a joint training exercise from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, September 15, at Cummins Plant 1, 500 Central Ave. 

The drill is part of Cummins’ ongoing commitment to enhancing emergency response capabilities and ensuring robust business continuity planning.

By partnering with the Columbus Fire Department, Cummins aims to strengthen emergency preparedness and response strategies, thereby safeguarding both its employees and the surrounding community.   

This exercise will feature realistic emergency scenarios, enabling the Cummins emergency team and CFD personnel to practice and refine their coordinated response efforts. Such collaboration between public and private sectors not only enhances operational readiness but also fosters a spirit of cooperation and mutual support.   

During the training, community members may notice an increased presence of first responders near Plant 1. This visibility is part of the planned activities and should not be a cause for concern.
