MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. - Bargersville Fire Department crews assisted the Madison Township Fire Department and eight other surrounding agencies on a working residential fire in the 10,000 block of North Mann Road in Morgan County on Saturday afternoon.
Bargersville units operated in multiple roles throughout the incident. Crews encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the house upon arrival and worked together to bring the incident under control.
Due to the rural area, tankers had to be used to shuttle water to the scene from the closest hydrant. The fire was determined to be fully extinguished within one hour and 45 minutes.
No people were injured in the blaze. However, one dog and one cat perished, while another cat was transported by the family to a local animal hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Madison Township Fire Department officials contacted the American Red Cross to provide assistance to the family.
The structure, while partially saved, sustained heavy damage. The cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical in nature.
