NORTH VERNON, Ind. The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) has charged a local woman with driving while intoxicated following a crash on U.S. 50 on Thursday, April 9.
Officers with the North Vernon Police Department responded to the area of US 50 and County Road 150N after a report of a vehicle in a ditch.
Upon arrival, they located a gray SUV off the roadway. The driver was identified as Autumn Baber. While speaking with her, NVPD observed signs of impairment, including unsteady balance and confusion.
The suspect allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash. A portable breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.161. Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted, during which she showed multiple indicators of impairment.
Baber was taken into custody and transported to the Jennings County Jail. The case has been submitted to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office with the following charges requested:
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated – Endangerment
- Operating with a BAC of 0.08 or Greater
