NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) alerts drivers that the State Street Bridge will be closed for construction the weekend of June 12-14.
The red blocks shown in the accompanying photo indicate locations where "NO SEMI" signs will be posted. Due to traffic hazards and limited maneuvering space, semi-tractor-trailers will not be permitted in the area during the bridge closure.
INDOT will be applying a new protective surface to the bridge deck. It helps seal out water and road salt, improves traction, and extends the life of the bridge without requiring a full surface replacement.
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and be patient, as this important work is completed safely.
