JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers are investigating a drowning that occurred Thursday evening at Crosley Lake, south of Vernon in Jennings County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that at around 9 p.m., Christopher Allman, 20, of North Vernon, was attempting to back a pickup truck down the boat ramp at Crosley Lake. While he was doing so, the pickup entered the water and traveled about 100 feet from the ramp.
Allman and a passenger exited the cab and attempted to swim back to shore. The passenger made it back to shore safely, but Allman went under the water and did not resurface.
At 1:12 a.m. on Friday, DNR officers recovered the victim’s body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
